what are the best ways to prepare to do well in med school. i start this august and have enough free time that i wouldn't mind looking over some material in advance. any suggestions on what material/books would be good to look at?

There are countless threads on "pre-studying" for med school and all of them will tell you not to bother trying. You won't know what will be emphasized/worth studying, etc... Spend your summer before matriculation having fun.

If I had the money and it was my last summer, I would probably go travel for the summer before I begin class. 😛

Get a job and relax, its your last time to have fun, everyone says medical school is like being in the working world, so seriously just go and have fun and get a part time or full time job to make some cash..congrats on your acceptance and best of luck!
