Hi guys..!

Im a high school senior currently. I expect to join a University for Pre-Pharmacy the coming Fall 2008. I'm from Oklahoma and have applied to OU, SWOSU, and UNM. I'm also interested in UH and will be applying ASAP(i noe its kinda late but still..)

Recently I was checking for some more universities in oklahoma with prepharmacy and came across NSU. I'm wondering if anyone knows if NSU at broken arrow has pre-pharmacy? and also if anyone can recommend any other good universities with prepharmacy in OK.

Thanks,
A Prospective PrePharm Student

NSU in Tahlequah does. NSUBA only offers upper division courses so they may have some of the required courses for pharmacy school ( I am graduating from NSU in May and will be going to OU pharm school in the Fall). I went to Tahlequah for two years and finished up my bio degree at BA. So, you would need to go to the tahlequah campus to get your gen eds such as comp and historys, etc. I think RSU in Claremore also offers all of the courses required for pharmacy school. I dont think the school has to have a "prepharm" you just have to take all the classes needed to apply to the pharmacy school of your choice, and make sure they transfer. Hope that helps!

Thanks for the quick reply..! 🙂
Its amazing to find someone who studied in NSU over here! So, yea I know you don't have to find a school with specific "prepharm" major but I was just wondering if the NSU @ BA has all courses required for OU as I'm planning to attend OU pharmacy school

I dont prefer going to Tahlequah or Muskogee campus as I stay in BA and wish to drive and go 2 NSUBA. Anyways, glad to know you are joining OU this fall and I wish all the best for u..! 😉

I graduated from NSU Tahlequah last May. As the previous post mentioned, the only sciences offered at the BA campus are upper division bio courses Ex. cell bio, genetics, to name a few. You will need 6 hrs of upper division bio courses for OU admissions which can be taken at the BA campus.
I went to TCC over the summer doing some more science pre-reqs, and a lady in my class was taking all of her sciences at TCC and then 6 hrs at NSUBA in the fall, then applying to OU. You could think about doing that. I know that she already has a bachelors and MBA as well.

Good luck! If you have anymore questions, feel free to ask. I graduated from union and grew up in T-town.

Thanks..! gud to know u grew up in T-town..! I'm from Tulsa too, studying at Memorial High School (08 Basketball State Champs..!)😎

So yea, I'm planning to start off in TCC with the tulsa achieves scholarship and continue either in NSUBA or ORU. Anyways I was also thinking it wud be a better idea if I go directly to OU to do pre-req.

So, where do you plan to do your pharmacy at ?

I go to NSU-Ba also and live in Tulsa. Just do as many pre-reqs at TCC as you can and get good grades. Then go to NSU and do the rest. There are so many people that took/take Biochem at TCC (LAME!!!) and got A's and were accepted. (Really take home exams and NO Final!!, My small complaint!!) It will be an eye-opener at Pharmacy school. Dr. Woods at NSU-BA will prepare you for professional school and teach you what you need to know in Biochemistry and other upper level courses.

You think Biochem at tcc with...oh his name escapes me now...is lame? I havent taken that course there but I heard it was difficult.

Oh yeah, I have heard about how difficult woods and the the other bio teacher at BA are. I may take cell bio or genetics in the fall.

Oh yeah, if you have the achieves scholarship take as many gen eds at you can at tcc. You could also look into SWOSU in weatherford. They typically take their own students from what I have heard.

I would like to apply to OU next year because it would be relatively cheaper however I am married now and we live in texas so I am applying to Creighton distance program. I think it is a good fit. It is just more expensive.

tellsarah, TCC biochem is lame compared to biochem at NSU or OU Pharmacy school. It would be like drinking from a water fountain compared to drinking from a fire hydrant! Most P-1's that flunk out are those not ready for biochem.

There is no way to prepare for OUs biochem. I didnt take Biochem and made a B, people who took Biochem failed. It's all in how you do it at the time.

Oh, and there is another class that is getting people to flunk out..........it isn't Biochem that people are worried about anymore.

And, for what its worth, I did my undergrad at NSU Tahlequah.

yea I'm planning to take max gen eds at TCC thru the achieves scholarships and then do the rest at NSU-ba. I recently applied to SWOSU and I'm still awaiting for their reply, but I have no interest in going their as weatherford is a pretty rural setting nd also i plan to stay here in BA for awhile.

I've been thinking abt going to Tahlequah for sometime now, but i don't plan on staying at campus bcoz i plan to stay in BA till my pre-reqs r over then move to OU and live in their dorms. Another thing i was thinkin abt was maybe drive everyday to tahlequah and back to broken-arrow, but i dont think thats possible anyway so i mite do da initial work at TCC nd rest at NSU-ba.
