you can major in whatever you want. just get the pre-reqs done for the school/s you want to attend.

you can major in whatever is your hearts desire. My personal opinion is that a science major (bio, chem, biochem etc...) would probably make it the best/easier to major for an undergrad. if science isn't your thing and you like business, then be a business major but you will have to take extra classes to get the pre-reqs done.

:luck: Lotus

I would do a science major. It will help you with the PCAT and Pharm School. It kills two birds (pre-req requirements + undergrad major requirements) with one stone.

thats my exact plan but science is also my liking so it works alll ways

the more you like it, the easier it will be to pass!

i suggest you major something that...

1) fulfills your interest
2) has some kind of job stability when you graduate in the chance you dont get accepted the first time you try

always hard to find the balance with both 😀

Since you are willing to let a group of strangers you have never met decide what you should devote the next four years of your life to, and since you could not be bothered to use the search function, this is what you should study (drumroll, please):

UNDERWATER BASKETWEAVING.

I personally went with Biochemistry as my major so that it still stayed with something medical... keep it as something like biochem, or bio, or chem while ur still applying to schools, and if u dont make it in or something, then u can think of broader majors.

Seriously, there are tons of threads like this. If you want to major in physical education, go ahead.

Remember that your Major is going to grant you with a Bachelor's in something once you complete the major. Don't get a Bachelors in Biochem if you have zero to little to interest in it, because if you don't get into pharmacy school (not trying to discourage you here) then you're going to be stuck with a degree that does nothing for you. Unless you're interested in some research position or becoming a chemist.

I say major in something that you have an interest in (gives you something to talk about other than pharmacy when interviewing) and use it as a backup plan. I, however, don't have much interest in much else... so I'm currently pre-bio status here at UCSB and if I don't get into pharmacy school after I finish my pre-reqs.. then I'll apply for one of the many life sciences majors available here.

I have a degree in creative writing. There's no rule. I was just accepted into school. As long as you have prereqs, GPA, and PCAT, it's up to you.

Your major won't matter to the admission committee that much. Study a discipline that means something to you so that you can be a more industrious pharmacist later on. Perhaps you are interested in the business of pharmacies, its products, or its service (B.A. in Business or Economics). Perhaps you are interested in the public health aspect of patient care (B.A. in Public Health). If you are interested in the sciences, biochemistry, microbiology, immunology, etc, are all great majors to have under your belt. Of course, remember that you need a good GPA...so whatever you choose to study, be sure you will maintain a GPA > 3.50.

It's great that you are asking this question now. Take a minute to think about how you want to steer your career in pharmacy and complete a bachelor's degree that can help you with that goal.
