I am missing the prereq Human Anatomy and Physiology to get into graduate school for OT. I need Human Anatomy 1 and Human Anatomy 2, however, these courses will take a year to complete. Are there any accelerated courses I can take for Human Anatomy and Physiology? Or are these courses offered separately so I can take them in a semester rather then a year? Any helpful advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

AP I is typically a prerequisite for AP II, but you can always take them over the summer- schools usually have at least 2 summer sessions which are accelerated- take AP I during Summer I and AP II during Summer II so you get them both done in 3 months

I don't recommend this personally but a program I visited noted that a few students had taken an anatomy course through a distance learning program in New England. Not sure if this is it:

Reasons I do not recommend it:
-Not all programs will take it
-Anatomy is much easier learned hands on in the classroom for most people

I'd keep researching online to see what you can come up with. Some programs allow you to have the class in progress. A school near me (I believe) offers a winter break (Late Nov - Dec) A&P course to get people who missed fall session caught up. This is at a quarter school though so the students do A&P in 3 sessions.

Finally check with your programs. Some offer A&P in the summer before the program starts if you get in... I think.🙂

I'm from Orange County, California, and many people took separate courses in Anatomy and Physiology during the same semester.

Hi- I am not sure if you're still looking but Penn Foster offer online Anat & Physio. You can take it as slow or fast as you want and it is $350 I think. Double check with the schools you're applying to because not all of them will accept online courses. But Penn Foster is accredited by the US Department of Education so that's a plus.

I dont know where you're located but I am currently taking AP1 and 2 at Southern California University of Health Science. they offer a program called ISP in which you complete AP1 in 1 month and then AP2 in the following month. Each course meets for 4 weekends from 8:30am to 6:30pm on Saturday and Sunday - I had lab in the morning and lecture in the afternoon. It is tough but well worth the effort. I just finished AP1 yesterday and will start AP2 this coming weekend. The cost is $1900. per class. It is tough but do-able. I work full time, have 3 kids and a husband and stilled pulled an "A". However, nothing at home got done and my car looks like I live in it. They're located in Whittier, California...look them up, it is well worth it.
BTW: I checked with all of the California OT programs and they all accept these classes. Good Luck.

I ended up going to University of Alaska, Fairbanks and did them both over the summer. It was the only school I could find that had both A&P I and II in the summer. They don't charge out of state tuition over the summer and it was a great excuse to have an an Alaskan adventure.

I stayed at http://www.fairbanksstudenthousing.com/ it is easy walking distance from the university. The classes were Monday-Thursday so I did most of my required volunteer hours for OT grad schools on Fridays. Worked out great for me.
