I'm currently doing prerequisite matching part of the primary application for AACOMAS. I took a course in introductory to critical thinking to complete my English prerequisite to transfer to a university when I was in a community college. The course subject is philosophy but it's writing intensive and the material is about learning how to write argumentative essays. In the English prerequisite for med school, I need to include this course. I'm wondering do I have to contact all the schools to elaborate that it's more writing and English than philosophy?

Also there's a biochemistry course that my school categorizes as biochemistry but AACOMAS recognizes it as molecular biology after they entered my transcripts. Do I have to tell the schools that the subject is actually biochemistry if I enter it in the biochemistry prerequisites those schools?

Thanks!

I think your best bet is to contact the individual schools with an English requirement and ask them about course substitution. Good luck.

Another good reason to not have AACOMAS enter transcripts! Is the course title something biochemistry? or is it actually "molecular biology?" Many schools will default to AACOMAS specifications, so you might argue with aacomas and provide them with info and get the categorization changed.

The title of the course is Biomolecules and metabolism and it is categorized as one of the biochemistry courses. The description of the course is "fundamentals of biochemical processes, with emphasis on protein structure and activity; energy metabolism; catabolism of sugars, amino acids, and lipids; and gluconeogenesis." But AACOMAS replied saying the name sounds closer to molecular biology so they didn't change it. I will definitely argue with AACOMAS now.
