I am planning on calling the school but I am waiting until they return after the holiday so I would like to ask about the experiences of anyone who has been in a similar situation.

At the university I graduated from, the first year General Chemistry course is condensed into a half-year course and there is no second year General/Inorganic Chemistry course (only Physical Chemistry, with no lab). I was wondering if schools ever make exceptions and waive prerequisite courses, or if it is likely that I would be expected to take a second General Chem course at another university?

Thanks in advance!

There are usually no exceptions. Nearly every school I've ever seen had 2 semesters or 8 credits of Gen Chem on their website. So unless that course was 8 credits you're probably out of luck and would need to take GC 2 elsewhere.

Is this course designed for chemistry/science majors? If your degree is in chemistry or if you are on a list of Nobel Prize Nominee you should be good to go.

You will need to take a higher level chemistry course with a lab to fulfill the prereq.

Also, call the schools today. Most of them have returned from the holidays and classes have already started this morning.
