So basically for most schools you need 1 year of general biology/zoology. But, for me what happened i took 1 semester of animal biology w/lab (in the zoology department) and 1 semester of plant biology (general botany) w/lab (in the Botany department).

Is this going to affect admissions?

I don't believe so as the first year of biology covers the same material except under a different heading. Several schools state that they require one year of biology or instead one semester of zoology and one semester of botany. Up until a couple of years ago my school's first year biology was a zoo/botany division and I don't think that is not at all uncommon nationwide. If you have any concerns about a specific school, contact them.

Oh okay, its just that the regular 1 year course of general biology has been full every time i get to register and i just keep getting put on the waitlist for the last 3 semesters. i really dont have much of a choice, so i had to choose a different option so i wont be there for 6 years.

JamesD,

Do as Sprgrover says...check with the individual schools you are applying. I was in your exact same situation. I took zoology and botany, and one dental school told me that botany wouldn't count, so I had to also take cell bio. All the other schools I applied accepted what I already had. My point is that some schools will have different requirments than others, so it's really going to be up to you to make sure you meet their requirements.

I'll definitely check, thanks.
