I need help deciding on whether or not I should take chem II over the summer. I'm majoring in kinesiology and im required to take anatomy 2nd semester freshman year and physiology 1st semester sophomore year which kind of screws with the course sequence a bit. i have no problem taking more than 1 science a semester but currently the only available chem 1 classes are at night (obviously if the daytime classes up I won't be having this issue)

heres the sequence i was thinking:

freshman
1st sem: bio 1
2nd sem: anatomy, bio 2, chem 1
summer: chem 2

soph
1st sem: physiology, orgo 1
2nd sem: orgo 2

jr
pysics 1 & 2

***I am not taking chemistry over the summer at COMMUNITY COLLEGE I will be taking it at my 4 year university & it would be the only course i take over the summer ever!

I personally dont think ONE summer class would ruin my chances but I have heard mixed things... what does everyone else think?

I took Chem I and II, plus labs, during the same summer (two 5 week sessions, class every day).

Piece of cake.

Ruin chances with what? I don't see anything wrong with taking it the way you have it planned out.

I think your schedule looks great. I took ochem 1 over the summer and it was a great decision. My only regret was not taking ochem 2 over the summer too. Summer classes are faster and more intense, but easier in a way because you only have the one class to focus on.

No one would care if you were taking Chem over the summer, even at a CC, as long as your OChem and any other upper level classes reflected the fact that you didn't do it as a summer class just to avoid more rigorous material. "It was the only way I could fit it into my course schedule without having to tack on an extra year of school" is a perfectly valid reason for taking summer classes.

As long as the course material for the summer class is the same as the regular one, it shouldn't matter! Summer classes aren't considered inferior to semester classes in the way that community college classes are considered inferior (by many adcoms) to 4-year university classes.
