So I'm thinking about taking Organic and Physics at this Community College I attend. I called one of the Vets schools I plan on applying to and they said you could do that but they wouldn't recommend it. I know it's less competitive taking those classes at a CC. Anyone ever took some of these courses at a CC?

You have to be careful here because many schools will require it to be a four year. Since you called one and they said you could but don't recommend it, I would say they take it, but are very aware that many schools won't. Check closely the fine print and also keep in mind that the requirements are subject to change for these prereqs each year so even though this school may take CC upper division now, they may not when you apply.

This blanket statement ("less competitive ...") is by no means always true. You need to be smarter about not oversimplifying.

When I took it at a CC it was taught by the same prof that taught it at UMN, using the same text, the same syllabus, and same tests. So I had no issues.

But that isn't always true.

In any case, you already have your answer - the schools that matter sound like they aren't enthusiastic about the idea. So don't do it unless you absolutely have to. 🙂

I've been very indecisive the last few months on whether I want to apply to vet school during the upcoming application cycle or take a gap year. In the midst of trying to make a decision, I did not think to register for microbiology for the spring semester. The cap on the course has been met, however I emailed the professor about potentially registering for the class if she allows it due to it being a prerequisite for vet school. If I am unable to take micro, are there any schools (Other than VMCVM) that either only recommends it or simply wants to ensure that it will be completed by graduation? Thanks!
