Hi, I had a question about how the primary application is screened. In my personal statement, if I want to reference activities i have described in the activities section, is it okay to assume the reader knows what I wrote in the activities section, or does the statement have to be able to stand independently? Basically, does the same reader read both the activities and personal statement?

The PS needs to stand alone.

The PS needs to stand alone.
How about in terms of secondaries? For instance, if your PS talks about an important obstacle you overcame and then you get the "greatest obstacle" essay question, is it okay to use the same experience? (obviously not copy/pasting, but talking about and expanding on the same thing mentioned in your PS/WA section)

I would recommend focusing on a completely different aspect of the challenge, but yes, secondaries are for exploring important aspects in greater depth.
