Post any scores, thoughts or feelings with regards to the TPR tests...

With that said, does anyone have a time issue with the TPR tests? I always feel that I'm pressed for time.....

Did TPR 4: PS: 8 and BS: 12
TPR 5: PS: 9 and BS: 14
Felt that their PS is hard, while the BS was really easy. Pressed for time during the PS as well.

I just did a PS section of TPR

where 3/8 of the passages involved

1 passage on refridgeration, 1 passage on Cornot cycle, and 1 passage on heat engines

I'm feeling a bit uneasy now

I had to pause my timer for 5 min to finish PS on 5. I made a 10-6-13 on 4 and a 8-6-11 on TPR 5. THE VERBAL IS PISSING ME OFF! I ALWAYS have ONE PASSAGE LEFT!!

I just took TPR 5 and got 12-10-9. I had 20 minutes left over for bio but got bored and exited..probably shouldn't have done that. Kind of worried about my score though..is this representative of AAMC tests/the real MCAT?

TPR 1: 10/10/11
TPR 4: 10/9/12
AAMC 3: 10/11/10

Yeah I'm wondering the same thing. Especially TPR's verbal sections. Their practice tests in the back of the hyperlearning verbal workbook are a fair mix of shorter/longer/harder/easier passages. The one's online full lengths are consistently pretty difficult, in my opinion. And I've had 20 minutes left over for both the tpr bio sections too!

Has anyone taken any AAMCs yet? MCAT in about three weeks...getting kinda scared.

Anyone feel like TPR FL's are more difficult and require more fact recall than AAMC FL's? I'm consistently scoring 3 points under my AAMC average with these. Not sure how to interpret these scores.

I wouldn't take the actual score, or the BS style too seriously. PS felt on par of difficulty, but their curve is much more harsh. VR is definitely more difficult, BS I thought was easier, but did require more content recall. I averaged 23 on TPR FLs, and 28 on AAMCs. I only used them as a way to build endurance to sit through a full test, as well as target some weaknesses in content before I got to the AAMCs.

Do you have experience with the "Cracking the MCAT" exams? I want to start them tomorrow. Worth running through? Or just work on passages/practice problems in weak areas?

No, I only took TPR 1-4. If you have time, then go for it. More FLs can never hurt. However if there is a large gap you know of in your content, you might be better off doing specific passages. You'll have to make that call.

I took Cracking 1 & 2. I did pretty well on both....30 on Cracking 1 (10/10/10) and 33 on Cracking 2 (11/9/13). I felt the BS on Cracking 2 was not as much "passage-based"/Experimental enough and more recall. I like their PS & VR. Although between the 2 tests, I felt the PS was a bit similar. BS is not bad but it's still not as good as AAMC 11 BS =(

If you have access to their "Review Series test (1 & 2)" I would do those. The scores will kill your confidence so don't take those too heavily on yourself but I felt the PS & BS would be reflective of a "hard" section on the real deal. I think TPR VR in general has more convoluted passages compared to AAMC b/c every time i take an AAMC and on the real deal, I thought most passages were more interesting.

I agree with TPR verbal, I find it more difficult to read than AAMC. I usually score higher on AAMC.

Are any of the sections for TPR tests comparable to the real thing?

My scores have been:

TPR 1: 27 (took about 2 months ago)
TPR 2: 26 (took about 2 months ago)
TPR 3: 31 (took about 3 weeks ago)
TPR 4: 36 (took within last couple weeks)
TPR 5: 33 (took within last couple weeks)

Cracking the MCAT 1: 33 (took within past week)

I don't know if I should even bother using these scores as a measuring sticks or not because I don't know if there is a correlation between them to AAMC scores (or more importantly the real thing). Can anyone comment on their AAMC scores compared to TPR scores?

your scores are good i think. Maybe review TPR 1,2, and 3 since I thought they were harder than 4 & 5. I think you're doing pretty well and since you scored 33 on Cracking 1 that's a good sign!

I always ran out of time on the TPR tests. I found them ridiculously hard an a waste of time. The AAMC tests were much more like the real exam and a better reflection of my true MCAT score.

I was scoring in the low 20's on the TPR tests and in the low 30's on AAMC practice tests.

I feel that the PR verbal has been pretty representative, although some of the passage questions seem a little too telegraphed. It has been great though in terms of learning what types of questions I specifically miss.

I can't say much for PS and BS because my scores have seemed to fluctuate. Here are my scores for VR:

AAMC Test 5 08/25/2013 11
AAMC Test 11 08/23/2013 9
AAMC Test 4 08/19/2013 10
Cracking Practice Test 2 08/17/2013 7
Cracking Practice Test 1 08/16/2013 9
MCAT TPR Practice Test 4 08/11/2013 8
MCAT TPR Practice Test 3 07/10/2013 8
MCAT TPR Practice Test 2 06/26/2013 9
MCAT TPR Practice Test 1 06/17/2013 10
MCAT AAMC Test 10 06/04/2013 11
