I guess this is an easy question, yet I dont quite get it......

what is the probability of getting a 5 and a 6 in a dice game playing with 2 dice?

I thought it would be (1/6)(1/6) but its not...

also, could I use the nPr or the nCr equation for this problem?

There are two ways of getting a 5 and a 6

1) 5 for the first and a 6 on the second or
2) 6 on the first and a 5 on the second

so if u do that math u get an equation like this:

(1/6)(1/6) + (1/6)(1/6)= 1/18

we multiply because we want both a 5 and a 6
we add these because these are two separate scenarios (they cant happen at the same time)

I hope that made sense.
