I am having a great deal of difficulty and would appreciate any assistance!

I purchased a 3-month subscription of Q-Bank, and about 3 weeks ago I finished all the questions. I still have 3 weeks to go before I take my Step 1 exam, and would like to go through all the questions at least one more time, however, for the past three weeks, regardless of how many tests I take a day, most of the questions just happen to repeat over and over, and I don't seem to gain access to the entire question bank!

Did anyone out there experience a similar problem, or is it just I? If anyone had the same problem, how did you work around it?

I tried to contact Kaplan many times, but I keep on being given the 'run around' - they give me lots of excuses, but what I really need, a solution to my problem, they fail to offer. They seem pretty efficient when it comes to collecting our money and promising the best review program for the USMLE, but when problems arise, they don't seem to care at all about their students (or should I say clients!) I am very disappointed at Kaplan, and advise those out there to ask lots of questions before purchasing any materials and services from them. One thing for sure, if you purchase any services or products for a set amount of time, make sure you don't use it all up before the time is over, or you might find yourself in the same situation I am.

Well, enough blowing out steam - if anyone have any suggestions, please reply to this post! Thanks!!

Hi there,
I had the same problem with you, and I think that everyone that goes through the whole bank once has it. It had become so common, that by seeing the first words of a question i knew the letter answer of it. This may be a trap, because it gives you the impression that you know the answer(and the reasoning behind it), when actually the fact is that you saw the same question one hour ago. I don't know whether the thinking behind it is to give you a psychological boost or to emphasize particular questions, or if it's totally random. One thing you can do is to choose the incorrect-only mode, which i did and seemed to reduce the incidence of repeating questions. To further reduce this effect, the last days i was choosing particular disciplines combined with the incorrect-only mode. This would make the test look less like the real thing, since i knew that i had to do with q's from a particular discipline, but at least i wouldn't see a handful of questions appearing in virtually all the tests.

Theodore,

Thank you for your reply. I guess I will try to test using only specific subjects, and not all available items. As for using incorrect questions only, I already used all of them, and now they are all marked as correct items.

Hopefully, all that work will be enough to pass with the score I need to be granted interviews!
