Is everything supposed to be typed in with the shaded background maintained? becuase mine disappeared as I typed, and when I started over (and the got the shading to remain) it never limited my essays to the specified word count and so things spilled onto the next page ... am I missing something? anyone have any suggestions?

Wish I could help you... Sorry...

On another note, I found the home number area code field only allowed for 2 digits.. Anyone solve that?

dr. lilee,

The shaded box disappeared for me too, so I don't really understand what they are there for. However, I think that it should be fine as long as you keep your responses under the word limits, and keep it in the same font, and the application looks ok. I doubt that NU will reject you due to the app not being correctly in the shaded boxes (which I don't even think prints out). Just make sure you're within the limit and it looks good, and you should be good to go! 🙂

the signature portion after the third essay keeps moving on to the next page and there's no way i can keep it on the same page.

it would probably be fine if i just turned it in with my signature and date on another page, right? except that they sound really anal about how everything has to be stapled just so, and the ink color and all

i had the same problem with the nw app when i first downloaded it about a week ago. after finishing the essays separately, i downloaded it again from their website two days ago, and the text boxes are working properly now. the new problem is that you can't cut and paste essays into the text boxes (you have to type them in yourself) and you can't run a spell check that works ("asdfjkl;" went undetected), so it leaves a lot of room for errors and typos.

jonkst --- i had the same prob with the area code text box. i just wrote it in by hand. hopefully they won't be too anal about that.

good luck all.

My signature was also on the other page. However, what do you mean, rCubed, about the type of ink that we need to use? Does it have to be in color or something?

Thanks,

-Ice

I have already mailed my NWU secondary back, and it did not say ANYTHING about specific ink to use. It did request that you use 20lb paper...but that's just your standard printer paper, nothing fancy. It also doesn't request specific font, simply that it's 11 pt. font.

Careful what you post...you make a lot of people unnecessarily worried.

actually, the application instructions on the website do state that applicants must use black ink

here's the list of instructions:

When completing and printing out your Supplemental Application form, be sure to follow these guidelines:

* The form requires an 11pt font
* Single space all responses
* Print every page on 20 lb.or letter wt. plain white standard 8 1/2? x 11? paper
* Make sure your name and AAMC ID appear at the top of each page
* The signature line and date must appear in your own handwriting at the bottom of page 4; use black ink
* Staple all pages together in the upper left corner in the proper page order with the supplemental invitation letter as the cover page

Did you plan on using invisible ink or something? hehe...ok lame joke i know. 🙂

Don't mind me...just post padding...almost at 1k.

anyone understand the "do not hit enter" rule? i'm asking because i'm not sure if i should split my essays into paragraphs ... but then i'll have to hit enter. did you guys just write your essays as one big block? any help please? thanks.

I think it says its okay to hit enter in the essays, though I'm not sure.

Whoops.... I hope I don't get rejected for using blue ink.

my signature section moves onto another page too ... anyone figure out how to fix that? if it specifically states in the directions what page it needs to be on, i think don't think that would look too good

oh, and the area code only held 2 digits for me as well ...i guess i'll just write it in too😕

i had plenty of room after the last essay so i cut out the signature portion, pasted it onto the last page and photocopied it
i figure it would be ok to send in the signature on a seperate sheet, but since i seem to have nothing but time on my hands.......

Can you please post the essay question? I haven't gotten the secondary yet. Thanks.
