What's the sense in this? Probably allows for more cheating to happen.

No offense, but it is difficult to take a pre-med's post seriously when (s)he cannot properly distinguish between proctors and proctor's and use the right one in the thread title.

EDIT: The OP has changed the thread title from proctor's to proctors after this post. Good idea

Yes - I do believe bathroom breaks give cheaters great opportunities. Professors should have hard rules set in stone on this.

Wouldn't it be nice if universities and professors followed the AAMC/Prometric method of not allowing anything but an ID into the testing room? And only allow for bathrooms in authorized breaks?

Well that was... aggressive. Stop wasting your time replying to threads that are wasting your time then.

? uncalled for man. It is a bit of a nonsensical topic, but this is a forum for discussion about all things related to medicine and academics. If the things you define as senseless or repetitive are never posted, this forum probably wouldn't be nearly as active as it is.

You might just be having a bad day, but If you are that irritable with any regularity I would suggest that you should evaluate the balance of things in your life.

You're going to have a rude awakening if you think that was aggressive..

Fair enough but what possible point is there of this thread of course it will make cheating more possible . Not having a bad day I just find it ridiculous you are worrying about such trivial stuff but sorry if i came across rude. Not irritable at all actually chilling in my chair drinking a beer and scratching myself :cigar::cigar::cigar:

I understand what you mean. No harm no foul. Cheers.

Just a small mistake. No need to be a hard ass about it 🙄

Well that's why Chelsea have been **** lately.
No amount of bathroom cheating will give you enough of an edge for a medical school seat.
No but I bet it can turn an exam result from a 75% to atleast an 88 percent. How you ask? Just write down the questions you're stuck on on a small sheet of paper, put it in your pocket, go to the bathroom, search up the questions on your phone etc..

I was amazed to find out through SDN that some schools allow this. I don't consider my school to be super vigilant as far as cheating goes, but I would never expect to be allowed to leave the room during a test.

Since there are no 4-year-olds enrolled in any university that I am aware of, we should probably be able to expect students to make it through a 1-2 hour test without a bathroom break.

would you prefer they provide everyone a bottle to relieve themselves with?
Might as well just defecate in class. People can't hold it in for 1 hour? Unless you have some sort of bladder condition.

People have gotten caught cheating by accessing school's resources (I believe).

Also, unless the exam is straight memory based, I doubt going to the bathroom to look stuff up during an exam will help much.

Sometimes, you really gotta pee, man (or woman). During our med school exams, we were allowed to leave one at a time to use the restroom. However, I don't believe I ever left an exam while the clock was running to use the restroom in all 4 years. I do remember suddenly really having to pee near the beginning of a neuroanatomy practical, though. I fought through it, but it was pretty uncomfortable.

In undergrad it depended on the professor whether they allowed people to leave or not. In med school they don't care. I usually had to go during shelf exams since they were like 2.5 hours and I usually chugged a coffee beforehand.

Are you saying that the correct choice is "proctor's"? Because that's not the correct choice. Also you're in for a rude awakening if you think physicians are meticulous about their grammar and spelling, so I don't know why an apostrophe precludes you from taking a fellow pre-med seriously.

@Theafoni corrected it from proctor's to proctors after I pointed it out.

Everyone is entitled to his or her opinions. Little things such as grammar paint at least a corner of the bigger picture that is the person in question.

I honestly don't remember even thinking about this in undergrad as most exams were an hour.

In grad school most exams are a couple hours and now I have a medical issue where I might need to step out but it's never been a problem ( never needed documentation either because everybody had the privilege). Hell, in grad school I've had exams where they just gave us the tests and left us alone in a room for 3 hours. Nobody cheated. Doesn't seem real common in this environment. Maybe because it probably wouldn't help much.
