I received a very strong letter of recommendation from my PI. Would this letter show that I was productive in lab, even though I don't have a publication? I also haven't done a poster presentation. I've been in the lab for about 9 months.

I have worked in 2 research labs with no pubs. or posters... Good research doesn't usually get published in the span of 1 year. I did a study that involved measuring the size of the hippocampus in mice that were treated with a drug. Unfortunately my results came out negative.. Not all results are positive and publication worthy. I have a solid LOR from my prof. or so he claims and im banking on that to get me through. Don't look at the people here with 3 pubs and countless presentations..

9 months isn't near enough time to get a quality publication although you might be able to milk a poster out of it. A strong letter from your PI goes a long way - I would argue farther than any publication or poster.
