This is probably a really stupid question and I've already done my research, but I'd like to know what other real life students suggest/think too.

I've been on summer vacation for a month so far and I haven't really been productive whatsoever. I'm taking two online psych classes for my minor (since staying on campus to take orgo was mad expensive), and I've shadowed a neurologist once for a full day a few weeks ago. But other than that, I haven't really done too much of anything that would help my future self in terms of applying to med school. I've been job hunting since March, missed the deadline for EMT-B classes at my local community college (which I regret a bunch), and the hospital I had applied to volunteer at doesn't accept summer volunteers. I plan on shadowing the neurologist a few more times and contacting other physicians in hopes to shadow them as well, but I still feel lazy like I need to do more to prepare myself.

Med students and premeds, what are some things you had done/are doing during the summer? I have so much free time, and I want to use it wisely and be as productive as possible. Thank you in advance! 😀

Romantically involved with MCAT.

If you have land or a community garden near by? Grow some food. It is a fun hobby with great reward. Read some books too. One thing I wish I would have done early on in pre-med is spend the 4-5 weeks getting a CNA cert. There are always job opportunities for people with CNA certs. At least in my region. Even if you want to do EMT, being CNA certified plus EMT certified will help land a job later. At least from my experience.

Even if you can't volunteer at a hospital, you can always look for other volunteering opportunities/ways to give back to your community?
