Hi all -

Rec letter question: I'm a non-traditional applicant with a background in public relations. I worked in PR for 3 years before deciding to be a dentist. In addition to the required rec letters, would it be helpful to have a supplemental one from a VP of a firm I worked with who knows me well?

Yes, the more the better, especially if your VP knows you well and you're sure it'll be a good letter. Think of it as a well rounded compilation of recommendation letters. Admissions want to get a full picture of you so give them as much as you can

Yes. Bottom line is get rec's only from people who know you well. Don't get from people who will write a generic one via google. This is of course in addition to the rec's from people they require you to have (1 dentist, 1 sci prof etc) that you mentioned
