So, I'm missing numerous school days this semester for interviews (flying to texas requires a 2 day trip, etc). I emailed my professors letting them know ahead of time when I will be absent. This is the response I had from one professor: "Make sure to save your ticket stubs as proof." Was this a joke? Is this professor really that much of an a-hole? 😡

Anyone else having a hard time with professors / juggling classes and interviews?!

I don't know if I really see a problem with it. All of mine require a doctor's note or something like it for days missed, especially if there was an exam I'd have to make up.

That is either an only mildly funny joke or a reflection of a really jaded/unhelpful attitude. It sucks. I have never been in favor of mandatory attendence for college/graduate classes. Not to mention, your success in medical school admissions would reflect very well on the shool, so one would think they would encourage you and be accomodating.

That's not so bad. Pretty much all of mine are gonna take 2 days, since I'm not applying to any in the same state I'm in. I walked into one class that was 3 days a week, so I knew it was likely to get missed every time I had an interview, and the teacher firmly announced that we are allowed two absences, and then each additional absence, be it excused or unexcused, will drop our grade a letter. 😱 So, I dropped that class and basically shopped around for a nicer teacher.
