Some of the things I've read around here regarding professors is just insane and should be outright illegal. These guys get a PhD and they think they're God's gift to humanity and their word is the supreme law of the land. (It sucks that it probably is though 🙁 )

Most of your professors have pretty craptastic jobs especially if they are adjunct. Budget cuts are deep, expanding class sizes and number of classes as well as eliminating majors. It's definitely not as cush as it was in the past.

Yes, dealing with whiny, entitled pre-meds is one of the joys of teaching. My wife had to deal with plenty of that in her former life.

And reading this is what led me to make this thread. http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/craziest-thing-youve-seen-a-professor-do.372665/ It may be old, but I still hear crazy stories in real life along with some other to date stories I've read around here regarding professors.

Nope. Well, I have met one, and he was the coolest guy ever.

Then why not change careers? You're an expert in your field and the only thing you can do is teach at a miserable job?

Its probably for the same reason incredibly miserable docs just go through the motions at their clinics.

Mouths to feed, bills to pay. Hard to fight inertia when so much is keeping you going the same direction. I'm fed up with premeds now and I essentially went to Natty-Lite University. I can't imagine how jaded I'd become putting up with dozens of premeds like the ones you see on SDN every single day.

This is the result of decades of grade-grubbing pre-meds. If I was a prof and the same stuff was pulled then that I see my fellow pre-meds do today I would be the harshest grader ever.

Side note: honestly just be nice to your profs, what goes around comes around, and some of them are straight up baller
