This happened all the time when I was in school. I always asked him if there was a discrepancy between his handouts and the textbook, which source should we go by in an exam situation?

Odds are if there is a mistake many students will see it during class and the issue will be resolved there in class. I dont understand this fear of profs. they are there to help you learn and most of the time they want to do that. As toofache says just point out the discrepancy or say something like Im confused about this portion of the handout can you explain...you need to add a 5th option to your poll

Yeah, I have to agree. I do not see what the problem is here. Go talk to the professor and ask him or her to clarify. You are going to be a dentist soon. You need to show some self-confidence.

we have few students here at vcu that always raise their hands trying to tell the prof there is a mistake.. some mistakes are obivous and i feel that they shouldn't be mentioned.. however sometimes mistakes are huge and can confuse a student like crazy.

most prof at vcu are accepting of their error, but some are jackasses about their mistake and they won't admit they made an error which pisses the hell out of me..

Hi Friends,sorry to interrupt...
've heard about a dental school where they teach Two rules to post graduate students....
Rule#1 : "The Boss(their P.G Guide) is always Correct" ... &
Rule#2: "If the Boss is wrong,Refer to Rule#1"
...... Have a Gr8 weekend friends.......

WOW. majority think I should talk to the professor after class. Some professors don't want to be proven wrong. How do you tell the professor without upsetting him especially when you see many mistakes?

The University Of The West Indies?!?

memorize mistakes but figure out the real answer yourself...lol

you left out the REAL choice. Challenge the question during lecture, that way EVERYONE gets a chance to know the facts. Professors do not (should not) take offense to being wrong. Just be professional and diplomatic about your correction (if in fact the prof is wrong), and everyone will be happy. Just don't be "THAT" one who always raises their hand after every instance of this situation.

I left it out intentionally because that's the WORST :scared:
