Which of the following hormones is most responsible for preventing the sloughing off of the uterine wall during pregnancy?
A) FSH
B) HCG
C) estrogen
D)progesterone

i said HCG because it "stimulates the corpus luteum to secrete estrogens and progesterone" and i know both of those hormones help stop periods from occuring
aka maintaining the wall
but the answer is D...does estrogen just play a very minor role in maintaining the uterine wall?

Estrogen plays a part during the follicular phase for building up the endometrium lining and then in the luteul phase the increase level of progesterone build up the endometrium and when the hormone drops there will be no pregnancy and hence the endometrium is shed!

Oh, so estrogen helps to build the lining, but progesterone is more for maintaining it? ᕦ༼ຈل͜ຈ༽ᕤ
