Hey guys, I'm a rising 4th year and I was procrastinating tonight when I found a list of programs that won't be participating in the 2014 NRMP match. (I went to FREIDA, and as criteria chose "pediatrics" for specialty and "no" for participating in NRMP match)

I'm assuming, obviously, that this means something ELSE - like that the programs are taking a year off from accepting new residents, or that the residency program is changing its name or combining with another residency program, etc.

But does anyone have any info on these programs? The news that residencies are going to have to either opt "all in" or "all out" of the NRMP does make me think it's possible that some of these programs might really be non-NRMP at this point.

(Don't mean to sound paranoid, just trying to figure out my timeline for 4th year.) Thoughts?

I believe with CHOC and UC irvine; those two programs will be combining so they might have another FREIDA entry for the upcoming match.

As far as those military programs (take this with a grain of salt as the last time I was part of the match was 12 years ago); I think they have their own separate match before the big civilian one in March. Can anyone out there confirm/correct this?

The six military programs on the list are in the military match in which results are given in mid-December and are only open to those with obligations to the military (HPSP, former ROTC or Service Academy).

UCI and CHOC joined a couple of years ago. For some reason, FREIDA keeps their old reference numbers. These programs participate in the NRMP match under a different program ID. Nationwide changed names (it's not called Doctors Hospital) and has a new program ID. The rest are a mix of military programs that legitimately don't participate in NRMP and probably a couple of programs that have changed their name as well.
