I picked Mitochondria because of the endosymbiont theory. Would you all have done the same?! But the answer is cell membrane.

This is BAD BAD BAD way of wording the question.
The person who made the question was trying to say: Which one of the organelles could be found in prokaryotes? [As you know, prokaryotes do have cell memb, but don't have any organelles.]
However, the designer of the question has worded it in an amibuous way, which makes you think about the endosymbiosis hypothesis. Damn the designer if he did it intentionally!

yeaa, I think I have done that in past. But I learned from my mistake!!

What makes this wording so bad? I agree its better to say Which one of the organelles could be found in prokaryotes but if given these choices it doesnt seem right to pick on that is membrane bound as you said no prokaryotic cells have organelles.
Just curious why this wording makes you think of endosymbiotic theory right away?

Would you say this sentence is wrong, keeping in mind that mitochondria have circular DNA, small ribosomes, and other similarities with bacteria? Come on.

I guess the word associated makes you think they have some type of connection even though they are not contained in a prokaryotic cell. As opposed to outright saying which of these organelles can be found in a prokaryotic cell.
 
You guys are all gonna miss easy points if you keep stretching out the meanings of these questions. KISS - keep it simple, stupid.

It asks nice and clearly, what should you think of when you see a prokaryote? I would then picture a prokaryote and note the lack of all of those except a cell membrane.

No need to get into other topics here!
 
Is a cell membrane even considered an organelle? I would never call it one.
 
regardless of the wording...
if you imagine a prok cell you only see a "plasma membrane" out of all the other options.
