So here's my dilemma.

I've registered and scheduled for both my COMLEX and USMLE exams.

The problem is the name on my scheduling permits are different from the forms of identification that I have.

I dropped my middle name (not legally, just kinda felt like doing it which I'm starting to think is a dumb idea) when I started med school and they have me under a slightly different name, a name without my middle name. But all my federal IDs (passport and driver's license) all have my middle name.

So what should I do?

I know it sounds convoluted but its basically like this:

Jacob G. Lin, legal name on my IDs

Jacob Lin, what the school and NBME and NBOME have me as.

Will this be a problem on test day?

Thanks

EDIT: You know what, I didn't drop my middle name, the school just somehow did it for me. So it wasn't my fault

I don't know for sure, but I would hesitate to say that a middle name (or lack thereof) would be the deal breaker. At least I think that's how the TSA sees it - I never get stopped for only using my first and last name to purchase an airline ticket, while my IDs all have my middle name.

Call and ask?

Edit: now that I think of it, I think I registered for the MCAT with only my first and last name...it wasn't a problem

Thanks for the input.

Do you know if the social security # is on the paper we bring to the exams?

I mean if it is, then there shouldn't be an arguing since only one person can be attached to one SS#.

Nevermind.

I think I found my answer per the NBME site.

"The only acceptable differences are variations in capitalization; the presence of a middle name, middle initial or suffix on one document and its absence on the other; or the presence of a middle name on one and middle initial on the other."

Would you mind posting the link because I'm having the same issue with my school? Thanks. 🙂

For anyone that wants to know. I called NBOME and they also said the middle name is of no importance.

Called the prometric site (in new york) as well and they said the same thing.

Does anyone knows that you have to confirm the test date with the Prometric as mentioned at the time of booking? Is it absolutely necessary to confirm it . If I don't "confirm" it will I lose my spot ?
Thanks
