Prometric exam correlation-89%

not sure but can you say something about the experience? not going to have time for a practice run but i'm wondering how similar the format is to the NBME's that we take online. what did you gain from doing this practice sesh?

I thought it was a good experience. As long as you don't take the free usmle practice exam online you should get a good estimate of your overall knowledge. As a side note, does anyone know where I can obtain the answers to the free online practice test? I want to see the explanations to the answers, as many of them are similar to the prometric practice test.

ok...but do you think it was helpful to do it from a logistical standpoint? do you think one will perform better because of having experienced the testing center once before?

I think so. I am more familiar with the whole routine, where the bathrooms are, what food to take, etc. Doing the prometric practice exam can only help. I won't hurt you!

Probably best to take NBME exam. The practice test is easier than NBME, which is easier than real test according to the Step 1 Experience thread. Good luck.

I agree. Definitely take an NBME.

The score estimator for the free 150 is at this website

http://www.medfriends.org/step1_estimator/

Most believe that it overestimates vastly. I would tend to agree. It puts a 93% at 266 +/-11. It's not a very strong assessment tool.

Where are the bathrooms? can you tell me so that I won't waste time trying to find them? on the right or on the left? How much do they cost?

Not sure why everyone says the free 150 is easier than an NBME, I felt it was pretty on par.

I've taken every single NBME out there and they're all the same to me. I think it's all in people's heads.

I agree. I thought Free 150 was easy, but not as "mindblowingly easy" as others say. I thought it was pretty much the same as all the other NBMEs (and my % was the same as I got on NBMEs as well). I think people are comparing it to UW, in which case it is soooo much easier than UW

It wasn't all in my head. I hadn't read anything about the free 150 before I took them. I got 91% and thought they were ridiculously easy, and came here to read what other people said because I was shocked by how easy they were.

By comparison, I got a 240 on NBME 11 but only a 238 on UWSA 1 and a 219! on UWSA 2. So yes, I would say the free 150 are much easier.

Hey, my exam is tomorrow and I have scored a 89% on free 150. My last NBME 13 was 224 almost 3 weeks out. Should I expect to break a 230 with that? Any thoughts.
