Proper way to update grades

Threads on this issue are a few years old, so I wanted to ask, how should I update schools about new grades? Do I need to send an official transcript, or can I just copy and paste an unofficial transcript? I would like to get the grades to them as soon as possible, obviously, but I want them to be taken seriously as well.

In my experience schools don't want official transcripts until you are about to matriculate. Unofficial transcripts or grades via email are fine.
