Pros and Cons of getting a MS after a OD

What are the pros and cons of getting your masters degree on top of your doctor of optometry?

Please post your opinions. I need both sides for a research paper I am writing for my undergrad. All comments large and small are appreciated!

A lot of schools offer programs where you can complete both quicker then doing them separately. The obvious answer is that with the MS you can do research and teach which can add variety to your occupation.

Don't be a hater. I am a decent man who is not afraid of work. I did search, but only found topics for MS in other health professions. My paper is specific to optometrists. Maybe I'm not searching properly and you could direct my efforts?

Come on people. This forum is to learn more about our professions, not to find fault with others. I see a lot of people trying to boost their own self-worth by lowering others.

Taking my feelings and making a joke out of them is neither respectful nor professional. Is this how you care for you patients? Really, you have a problem. Let's not be so negative, qwopty99. Maybe it can be our New Year's resolution...

Sorry - I wasn't trying to insult you and I wasn't trying to insult your post.

I was hoping my reply would end the discussion between me and that dent guy. I mean - if you were the dent guy - how do you reply to that? Either he would stop posting or he would escalate things to insults. That's my goal. Get him to crack first.

I wasn't interested in engaging in a back-and-forth with him, so I cut off the discussion by using your post as a springboard for a (very) tongue-in-cheek reply. My post was actually agreeing with you.

But consider why I did it. This guy pulls up an 8-month old thread, and disses my use of the English language, only to show that he has a grade six (make that grade seven) vocabulary. I could've done a lot worse than what I did.

I know I have an edge in my posts here - but if you take my posts lightly, they are intended to be funny. Sometimes it's easy to miss the sarcasm of my posts online.
