Hi there, my family is moving to florida next june. and i have chosen to apply for pre optometry @ UCF. i was just wondering if anyone here has had expeinces with this university ? and if so, how was it ? Im a bit confused as i heard if i chose to go somewhere else for optometry school (nova southeastern is the only one in florida) that the qualification may not be valid in florida. I need to know as i heard Nova is a private school ?? - what exactly is the difference is between a private school over there and a state school, because UCF is a state school but you still have to pay tuition fees etc. ?? Also Does anyone know about the pricerange of novasoutheastern for example.
Thanks for your time

Hi mixer! I am from Florida so I can help you out somewhat. University of Central Florida (UCF) is in Orlando and is a state school, which means for Florida residents it is SIGNIFICANTLY less expensive than a private school, but for out of state residents, and persons in your case, it costs nearly the same as a private school. Nova Southeastern is a private university in Davie. It has an absolutely beautiful campus, and they have a very good pre-optometry program, and of course they have the only optometry school in Florida. You should call each school and find out about the financial situation you will be in. If it costs about the same for each school, and you seriously want to persue optometry, I would go to Nova. 👍

When i get to Florida - i will be a "resident of florida" (info given by my parents attorney) basically what the university keeps telling me is do the sats (which i have booked for in january). UCF has a pre optometry programme - thats where ill be going hopefully as ill need to stay home for a year or two to get used to florida. Where will you do your final 4 years - after pre optometry ??
