why do you have increase nuclear:ctyoplasm material or surface:volume when there is a growth of protoplasm?

What is protoplasm?

Thanks!

I think that the answer to your second question may answer your first. It makes sense that you have never heard of the term because it is not used very often any more. Protoplasm is the jellylike material in the cell, inside and outside the nucleus, where essential chemical reactions of the cell occur. It includes the cytoplasm and the nucleus.
Hopefully that helped.
