I just want to know what people think about professional personal statement writing services. I already have a rough draft, and I would like someone who has lot of experience with residency PS to proofread and give me a feedback. Anyone here has used any of these services and what do you recommend?

Give editavenue.com a try. I did-the price was reasonable, the result was not bad.

I think they're slightly stigmatized and often confused with "buy your essay online" type services.

Personally, I'd hit up some friends (with good writing skills!) who know you well to help make a statement that's both grammatical and reflects you as a person. Save your cash!

I agree with this. I edited several essays for my friends and asked for help from others I knew had a great grasp of English grammar, etc-especially my Mom, who knows me better than almost anyone else. It's most important that your medical school essay reflects who you are as a person. All it takes is another set of eyes to read something they didn't write to identify areas that are awkwardly written or that need grammatical changes. We spend enough on this journey without asking someone who doesn't know you to edit your personal statement. I guess the only time this would change, IMO is if you are an FMG who doesn't have someone around to edit the grammar/English. That would be tough, and I could see spending the $$ then.

Hope it works out for you!
