I recently received my PSAT scores. I was happy with them—that is, until I saw my critical reading answers. I missed a question. I am completely devastated right now; I can't stop thinking about how much this is going to hurt my chances of admission to medical school. What study schedule should I use to prevent any future disappointments such as this one? I am willing to do anything to avoid having to go through this again. Do you know of anyone who got into medical school without a perfect PSAT? I can't believe I made such a grave mistake so early in the admissions process. How bad is this?

You can obviously get into medical school without getting a perfect score. I'm pretty sure 99.9% of those accepted to medical school did not get a 2400.

Missing only one critical reading question is rather impressive.

Good job! 👍

@indianjatt:
I did get a perfect score; however, I still missed one question. I'm worried that this will jeopardize my chances of getting 2400 on the real SAT. Are you sure that most accepted into medical school didn't get a 2400? Everyone I know who was accepted did, and everyone I know who was rejected didn't.

@Chops369:
I am not a troll. Please do not accuse me of being one; your avatar and post, along with being rather unfunny and bland, are evidence that you are most likely immature and follow others' example without question. As I said earlier, I am not a troll, and it bothers me that you would claim that I am when I am merely asking for clarification on my situation.

I have not had a single med school ask me for my SAT so I think you are fine. Plus I did not get a perfect score on either my PSAT or SAT and I am going to med school. And I know plenty of people who bombed the SAT who turned their life around in undergrad and are going to be matriculating in July/August 2011. Take a couple of deep breaths and worry about getting into college and doing well before you start worrying about getting into med school.

😵

Pretty sure you're trolling, but if not, there's a few things you should probably know.

1). Med schools don't look at PSAT scores. I don't think they look at SAT scores either. I'm pretty sure it's just the MCAT and such. 🙂

2). It's not at all uncommon for people to totally screw up the PSAT and then do well on the SAT. Your PSAT results do not guarantee how well (or poorly) one will do on the SAT.

3). Pat yourself on the back. Sounds like you did well. I too only missed 1 in the reading section and did well on the other sections also. Perhaps we'll get National Merit? 🙂

4). Breathe in. Breathe out. Repeat. You did well, there's no need to freak out. If you did that well on the PSAT then it sounds like you're a good student. Keep it up in college and I'm sure you'll be fine. 🙂 Good luck and congrats!

No, you are never going to be accepted to medical school with a poor score on a test administered to entering High School students. After all, medical schools have the resources and time to check on how every applicant did from the 9th grade and later.

Seriously, where is the critical thinking and common sense of today's youth? I hope I wasn't like this when I was 14...
