They are talking about scientific journals but I bet this happens a lot in medical journals. What with 10s of 100s of pseudomedical articles being published by so called academic half-assed nitwits touting pseudo-translational medicine.

This is pretty common. I was solicited several times to do something similar while I was in fellowship - scientific pathology meetings in China, etc. I even got an offer to author a text book chapter. LOL.

Err... I was asked to pay some crazy amount of money ($250) to publish an article at a legitimate sounding named journal after being denied by the good ones. Simply said no freaking way and then published the abstract and presented a poster at a conference. By the time I got around to the conference and poster presentation, I had realized just how unworthy of actual publication the original article was and that it was much better suited for the route drudgery of conference posters and abstracts, along with the 99.99% of all the other stuff that was there

Pseudo-science is the word to describe this garbage. Apparently, no mind is minded to factual info by a chairman of pathology for a program located in nyc and another key information is that he is not pathologist but... i think we all know who i am talking about (let me know if you are still confused)....
