So once you've finished residency does that mean you get a free Gerald Gardner upgrade, do they throw in the complete works of Doreen Valiente as a bonus? 😛

Even better, they just hand you a Llewellyn catalogue and let you go to town.

Is it bad that I get Doreen Valiente and Doreen Virtue mixed up? I doubt the former would approve. Even though the latter is totally a psychologist. She printed a degree off the Internet to prove it.

Little do you realize that psych residents save money on textbooks by just ordering the collected works of Scott Cunningham.

Ooh, ooh wait, re-quoting this...Does that mean you also get to go Skyclad with your supervisor? Because I'm a bit of a traditionalist that way.

maybe this is the distance between British medicine and the rest of western medicine..

I have a feeling Doreen Valiente probably has far more interesting things to concern herself with, seeing as I seriously doubt Doreen Virtue is going to be elevated to the ranks of the Mighty Dead (for those of us who practice ancestor veneration) any time soon.

I feel like you're intentionally derailing my thread now

And yes, ignored person who is reading along, you've probably worked out by now that I'm Wiccan (trained under the tutelage of an initiated Gardnerian and Alexandrian High Priestess). I don't feel my beliefs are an impediment to my hopefully one day practicing evidenced based psychiatry or psychology (depending on which direction I go in), but I also don't believe that threads like this necessarily belong in a forum that is devoted to the discussion of Psychiatry.

I think the problem here is that you cannot see how it is related to psychiatry and psychology, therefore you are the one who began introducing off-topic conversation, and are derailing a genuine psychiatric topic.

Being a Wiccan clearly doesn't make you adept at all forms of "magic" or "witchcraft" or psychiatry for that matter as the process I'm discussing here makes use of psychiatric mapping and subconscious suggestion then psychological manipulation to physically reroute both hemespheres of the brain to function in unison, break down their will, and free their spirit from their body.
It is a highly complicated practice and was conducted by two doctors two trained psychiatric nurses and I observed while working at a MoD psychiatric facility.

Your argument is invalid.
Because you do not know something, doesn't mean it isn't know.

Pusher...Jumper...at this point what difference does it make? I didn't realize that the OP was about balancing the energies. Now I'm thinking that image I posted was my incredibly intuitive reaction to that. Off the ledge with ya!

I am interested. Any links you could share to help me understand?

I'm sure the OP could provide plenty of links to back up at least part of what they're saying, the thing is though the way I'm reading it they've taken some very basic visualisation and energy based meditation practices, and mixed it in with a heap of pseudo mumbo jumbo bulldust about jumping and cooking spirits. On the other hand I could probably try and explain some simple wiccan based energy work that I might even be able to tie back into psychiatric practice, or therapy practice at least. Fielder's choice. 🙂

Oh, and by the way, OP I'm still ignoring, I've spoken to a Reiki Master, an initiated Taoist High Priest, a member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, a Hellenistic Reconstructionist, and individual practitioners of Thelema, Voudoun, Lavey Satanism, Non Theistic Luciferianism, along with several dozen flavours of Wiccan. Allow me to sum up their responses regarding your claims with a series of illustrative emoticons  (and don't worry folks none of them will be visiting here anytime soon, they don't have the link).

Well, that and they probably have about a million better things to do.

I googled "cooking spirits" because although I consider myself fairly well read in the realm of non mainstream religions and spiritual practices, that was a new one on me.

I still don't know any more than I did before, but I did find a recipe for roasted Brussels sprouts in a white wine shallot sauce that looks divine. And one for short ribs braised in red wine. YUM.

Ooh, cooking, one of my favourite past times. I've made a couple of nice Cantonese dishes lately that use small amounts of rum, although I had to substitute with cooking sherry for the sake of cutting costs -- still tasty though. 🙂

is this the bit where you mention this site is funded by the tavistock institute?
because you don't seem particularly up for fair discussion, I didn't mention Reiki, I didn't mention wiccan magic, these were all the comments you've made, and then decided to run with.

I don't even think if you tried you could explain what my OP is actually about...

the OP doesn't have anything to do with "balancing energies" :/ ...

I don't know if this was technically trolling or not, but obviously you knew what you were talking about and asked it in a way that intimated that you didn't. Not sure what any of this has to do with psychiatry. There are ways to study religious practices and there is solid literature on this and the benefits. If you think jumping is effective, condict some research on it. I'm out.
