Hi everyone! I'm considering switching to the PT track and I would need to retake Bio 1 and Chem 1 (C-'s in both) and take Bio 2, Chem 2, Physics 1 and 2 for the first time.

My questions:
1.) Does PTCAS have gpa's for each science section? For example, does it have a gpa section for chemistry, physics, and biology? or, does PTCAS simply have a science gpa section?

2.) Is it feasible to take Bio, Chem, and Physics in one year at my local community college? I've found that community college courses are significantly easier than at any 4 year and when I took Physiology and Environmental Bio, I had the highest A's in my cc class.

Hello,

1. PTCAS has multiple GPA breakdowns with these classes such as a science GPA, science and math GPA, Bio GPA, Chem GPA, Phys GPA and other science GPA.

2. It is possible to take all these classes in a one year time, but you might have to take classes in the summer as well.

2) That's what I did. I finished my degree on a part time basis while still in the Army and my erratic schedule wasn't conducive to taking classes with labs. I went back to school when I got out and took nothing but science courses. Taking 2-3 science at a time wasn't much fun, but it was doable and I was able to knock everything out in 3 terms.

Its possible just do 2 a semester for summer, fall spring. Also look at the local CC as some have condensed courses (8 week instead of 16, more info in a smaller time but doable).

Semester 1: Bio 1, Chem 1, Physics 1.
Semester 2: Bio 2, Chem 2,Physics 2.

Thats a pretty standard freshman year for any science major, without any extra core classes. Should be easy, having already seen the material.

Thank you so much everyone!

PTCAS states in the application guide the calculate up to 20 different GPAs based off of the transcripts you send in. How in the world or what in the world are these GPAs calculated on and why?

I thought I would post the answer I received from PTCAS regarding my question to this forum. Per PTCAS: The GPA
Calculations are for a variety of different metrics: by class standing, by
degree, by subject – each of these GPA’s is for a specific portion of your
academic history – in addition to your overall GPA.
