feel free to add the list

ones in rural areas who talk about jesus all the f ing time--see your brain on religion thread

ones that change their story on almost every level when attending requestions them

ones that ask you what are you going to do...i reply become a pathologist....then they ask 'so you're not going to finish your md?'

ones that ask about every popular issue.........bird flu

Dude you are way too bitter already to be in med school. Are you sure you're not an attending somewhere? 😀 We med students are supposed to be talking about giving up high paying fields to start free clinics and stuff.

Next thing you know it'll be "i hate pts who have medical problems and come to the doctor looking for help" 🙂

That is why God.. err Med Students invented the phrase "Student Doctor"
Of course now as a resident I resent that phrase..
"No I'm a Doctor. M.D."

My mother in law said to me "Soon you will be out of school for the first time in years."

Listen, lady. One I'm not in school, and two even if you want to say training+medical school, I was working full time before medical school.

Of course maybe that just cause I can stand my crazy mother-in-law...

I AM A M.D. !! Why do you think I went to 4 years of medical school?

If I correct someone I get "When you become a real doctor" or " When you are done with your training and get paid."

What do you think I am doing? I am getting paid for working more hours than you would even think about working in a week!

I also get "What is a pathologist?" It seems like no one knows. No one thinks we are doctors. Sometimes it isn't worth explaining.

actually what started this thread is when a private fp preceptor sat me down and lectured me. he said...'look, pt's nowadays see you as the enemy. you're just the person who is in the way of their cardiology consult, or any of the other hoops hmos req pts to jump through. you are their provider, not their dr anymore. he was a good harbinger of what primary care was. as i worked with him i thought....damn he's jaded. time showed me he was a realist and i was a stupid ms idealist. i'm happy bc his perspective synergized w/ my innate desire for path. 🙂
