Hi! I have a question about publications.. so far I have been on the author list for two abstracts, two posters (one of those posters I won top poster for my category at my undergrad research forum), and two oral presentations (not given by me but listed as an author). I don't have any full length paper publications yet (hoping to have one before I graduate). I am wondering are these publications considered anything out of the ordinary or pretty standard for people involved in research (been a research assistant for two years). I was hoping my research would stand out but don't know how abstracts and posters look compared to having a full length paper published... Sorry if this a dumb question I was just curious!

You already have more research productivity than most med school applicants. Whether yours is "out of the ordinary" depends on the venues in which the posters or podium presentations occurred, eg your school's Campus Research Symposium vs a regional, national or international conference. Having a paper published in a national journal would be extraordinary.

thanks so much for your input!

or the active military, or the Peace Corps.
It's a sign of productivity, is laudable and worth mentioning. You don't need a Cell paper to get into med school.

If you want to stand out, go work in hospice or TFA.
thanks so much for your input! I am actually planning on doing TFA for 2 years before medical school.
