I just got an e-mail that I've been wait-listed for University of Puget Sound. Does anyone know how big their wait-list is each year?

I am on the wait list too. I was placed on the wait list for Pacific university and they interviewed a lot of people from the wait list...not sure how many people would turn down acceptances with it being so competitive these days. But I'm trying to stay hopeful!

I am an alternate as well. I am not sure how they rank their alternates but there is still a decent chance so keep the faith! Because UPS is private and a bit more expensive I would think that they are more likely pull a good number of candidates off the waitlist. I am also going to be turning down at least one, maybe two schools, as well as take myself off of their waitlist.

I got accepted and I am wondering if anyone knows if they use cadavers? Also, anything else anybody knows about the program and would like to share would be great! I'm excited to go visit!

So they do use cadavers, but they are dissected by a few select second year students.

I got accepted too! -Into the OT program. I heard that they use cadavers, but that is the extent of my knowledge. The thing that really attracted me to their program over others is their on-site clinic. It is amazing. There is a period of time in the program that you will be assigned real patients (1 peds, 1 adult, I believe) for a couple of months. You will have the opportunity to develop your own therapy plan, with guidance of course. I was also impressed by their strong faculty, state-of-the-art equipment, and the OT section in the library. Their program is also housed in a separate building with the physical therapy students, although OT and PT students do not take courses together (at least for the most part). The school also has really good food in the cafeteria!

I am so excited to start this fall! I hope everyone on the wait-list is able to get a spot! Fingers crossed for you guys!

I got accepted as well! I am going to visit for the open house. I have heard really good things about UPS. The campus is very pretty and the location is nice as long as you steer clear of some parts of Tacoma...but you are so close to so many things that you always have an option of what to do for fun! I'm from 20 minutes away from the campus.

I received an acceptance as well but as I live on the east coast and am already flying out for my interview at Pacific University this weekend will be unable to attend the open house. Any info about the program or insight from the open house you guys can relay back would be greatly appreciated. I'm still waiting to hear back from most of the programs I applied to but UPS is close to the top but I'm a little weary since it's so far away and I more than likely won't have an opportunity to check it out before attending.

I will give you as much feedback as I can on UPS...I am from the area and I can at least tell you the campus is gorgeous, the staff is very into teaching (not so focused on research), the on site clinic allows for 3 rd years to mentor 2nd years which makes you so much more prepared to go to your off site clinical sand enter the career field. They just recently got a new PT building. During your first year they don't try to burn you out like most other program to test you to see if you have what it takes...they give you that first summer off even. The area is close enough to everything. You could go up to Seattle for the day easily, or to the ocean, 3ish hour drive to Portland or 2 hour drive to the mountains. You really can do whatever you want to do within a reasonable distance. There is a lot of rain in Tacoma tho.. So that is something to be aware of..we usually only get 1-2 weeks maybe of snow each year, but mostly rain. I would say the west coast is a little more relaxed than some of the major cities on the east coast, but I don't know exactly where you are from.

Thanks so much for the response! Sorry for the delayed response on my part, been pretty crazy the last two weeks. One of the things I really like about the program is the on-site clinic, I like the idea of having your first clinical experiences in a place you're already comfortable before working at an offsite clinic. It's also really great to hear the professors are more into teaching, something I find to be really important. I'm not too worried about the rain, I'm from central New York and live in one of the snowiest cities in the US (though I don't ski or really participate in any snow activities). I've been to the Pacific NW a few times and really love it out there, from what I've experienced the people are super nice and there are just so many different things you can do outdoors and in nature. When I've been in the past it really feels like home away from home and that I'd really fit in out there.

The school really is beautiful. I was amazed that the campus was so small! UPS has about 2,000 undergrad and grad students. I had heard that some people had trouble with loans though...and with the tuition being pretty darn expensive, that is a cocnern of mine. Anybody know anything about that???

I really loved UPS and the staff were amazing. I am choosing to go to school there. The on site clinic is a huge plus. I really recommend it !
