I got in too!!!

I must've looked like an idiot in the mail room when i saw the puffy envelope in my mailbox...I was so excited!!

I couldnt wait so I called Brenda Stevens and she told me over the phone... but I just got the letter of acceptance in the mail today.. Heres a tip you know you got in if you get a larger than normal white puffy envelope in your mailbox its full of forms and stuff to read.

My gpa when I applied was a 3.6 but now its a 3.7. I have worked in a pharmacy over 2 years and have volunteered at a hospital, compounding, and nuclear setting. I think volunteering in the various places pushed me over the top becasue I did none of that stuff last year when I applied and I talked to Holly Mason and he told me what they were looking for in students so i catered my application to exactly what he said and boom I got in...

My advice is to email or talk to the admins at Purdue and keep in touch with them and ask them what kinds of traits they look for in pharmacy students...i went as far out and asked them what i should put on my app to make me stand out and he gave me ideas to think about...they are really nice...

I live out of state so it was kinda harder getting in than in state students but thank goodness I made it.. I just got to find a way to pay for school now 😱

Good luck to everyone...and I cant wait to meet you guys... oh and is anyone considering doing the dual PharmD and Management degree?

Shrubh- I noticed you are from Georgia...are you by chance a white male who came to the interview with your dad? If so my mom was waiting with ur dad downstairs and she was saying that hes quite proud of u and ur bro 🙂 (If thats not u then ignore me)

No I am a white female from Georgia..so it wasn't me (although I hope my dad is still proud of me!! haha)
I interviewed on Feb 23rd. No one came with me since I know a friend up at Purdue to stay with...I did, however, end up waiting around for about 2 hrs after my interview until my friend got out of class. So if you interviewed that day, you may have seen me waiting for hours by registration : )

I'm not 100% sure if I will be attending Purdue--I got accepted to U. of South Carolina too (not as good of a school, I know--but I already go there for undergrad). I need to weigh my options (mainly financial!!) and make a decision. Purdue has ALWAYS been my dream school..wanted to go for undergrad, got in, but decided to go where i got a scholarship and instate tuition instead....perhaps since I got in again it means I should go this time?? ...ughhh I HATE decisions!!

Congrat! Have you decided which school you would go? I'm also debating between Western (CA) and Purdue. It's a hard decision to make :-(

yea I decided on Purdue!! I'll be paying back loans for a while after, but it's the better school. I'm really nervous about leaving u. of s. carolina, but i'm really excited too! : )

good luck making your decision--i'm guessing you reserved your spot at purdue anyway? i wanted to decide before i had to reserve it, otherwise id just put off deciding haha

I also put down my deposit for Purdue and still decide whether I should go there or not because of the out-of-state tuition. As far as I know, we have to pay out-of-state tuition for 4 years. Anyone has any idea how to become IN resident when in school?

about housing..
i know i received a letter from purdue a month or so ago about housing options on campus. As Pharm students, we are not guaranteed on-campus housing though.
I personally went on facebook and found the PharmD '11 group and messaged a girl that was in it to see if she knew of anyone needing a roommate. One of her best friends happened to need two more roommates for a house her parents bought her, so I'm living with her! Worked out amazingly well since I'm coming from Georgia and didn't want to live on campus.
