I found it interesting how I expect people to look based on their avatar pictures. For example, I expected Tinkerbelle to be small, white, and kind of cute (like Tinkerbelle). I expect Prana MD to be very wise and interesting so I always pay attention to her posts. I pay attention to Brain because I really liked that show and everything written by Shredder seems obnoxious because I think Donald Trump is Obnoxious. When I read OSUdoc08's posts, I always hear a country accent in my head.

This made me realize, we need to put faces to words...PICTURE THREAD!!
How do people's avatars make you feel about them?
Did anyone expect me to look like this:

note to OP: there have been multiple attempts at starting a picture thread. but as you can imagine, all the premeds here are shy/anxious/self-consious/ugly (just kidding about the last one) to put their pics up.

it doesn't really influence what i think of their posts, but it does influence what i think they look like. for example anyone who has a pic of a real person I do think it's them....but why would anyone post their real pic unless they were drop dead gorgeous (and i haven't seen a single avatar that i thought was) and wanted to be harrassed. No offense to anyone and i certainly don't know if it's their real pic but why would anyone post an ugly pic especially if it's not them and have people think that it is. Again why would anyone ever post a real pic as an avatar?

In response to the OP, some avatars definitely influence the way I see the person-- whether it is an actual photo (ajt) of the poster, or a haunting image (shredder). Others make no sense (psychodoctor) and I don't get much out of those...
