again. mcat can be absurdly tricky:

remember the ? about lactate <-> pyruvate. what did it ask? answer choices were under anaerobic conditions pyruvate a. produced, b. accumulated, c. oxidized, d. reduced.

it depends on where. in the muscle cells pyruvate is PRODUCED from glucose and REDUCED to lactic acid. the lactate is shuttled to the liver where it it oxidized to PRODUCE pyruvate. the pyruvate is used to regenerate glucose.

I remember having that, getting blurry. i think i chose reduced. accumulated and produced didn't make sense to me. oxidized was probably aerobic dependent. so POE led me to reduced.
