what's your plan? what are you doing now to prepare for Step1 and how are you going to modulate that once clinical rotations roll around?

Personally I'm on the Zanki/USMLERx grind right now (M2) but do I just put that on the back-burner and focus on shelfs?

Would love to hear from anyone who has gone through this recently as well

I did this back in January. I found DIT (notes in first aid and book) and UWorld w/ sketchy as a supplement (mostly micro/pharm) to be pretty solid. I'd recommend doing DIT and uworld concurrently though. I started out trying to do 80/20 and I think that kinda hurt me in the end. There's enough useless basic science minutiea that DIT is great but those practice questions are where the real money is. If DIT is too pricey (and it's kinda expensive), some of my classmates just did a run through of first aid for the blanket review.

No prep for step 1 ahead of time. I didn't use Anki during pre-clinicals either. Our school does teach to the boards though so I am very familiar with the step 1 question style.

Our school gave us 8 weeks of dedicated right after we finished rotations. I took 1 week off and studied for 7 weeks before taking it. For rotations, I suggest you focus on your shelves. I personally used Tzanki for clerkships which I think goes over some step 1-ish stuff. Clerkships does help you solidify your pre-clinical knowledge, so it's not like you need to completely relearn your basic science.

would you recommend Tzanki for shelfs? Also did you use any Q-banks for shelfs?

Also taking Step 1 after clinicals. I used anki religiously during the preclinical years but dumped it during clerkships, it just wasn't working for me. That said, many of my peers are using Tzanki. As for shelf q banks... uworld 2ck. Occasionally I'd use other resources (case files, blueprints, etc.), but the bulk of my knowledge building came from uworld, plus doing the NBME forms 2x right before the test.

thanks, total newb question but what are the NMBE forms?

Lol no worries. The NBME puts out practice exams (the forms) for essentially every subject. They're 50 questions and usually a better indicator of the real test questions than any other qbanks (imo). If you get them through the NBME, they cost money.
