Hi, I did a search but couldn’t find it so am sorry if this is repeated. My question is about the CAF section of usmle. Where it shows to put the date and whether or not you failed or passed, if you already took the exam again and passed. In your opinion should one put the dates and the times they took it and passed only, or also include the time they failed? What I have heard, (don’t know if true) is that if you just put that you passed it, but not the attempt, that maybe in theory one would be able to receive more interviews since certain programs filter out CAF's based on more than 1 attempt on a step, (but wouldn’t nec reveal this information when asked, or on their website)
Obviously the program will see this based on the usmle transcript, but the theory is that at if one were to receive an interview by then, I could explain that point when it comes up in interview. Just wanted an opinion.
Thanks for your time.

this seems a bit shaddy....just be truthful.

When you get to that section of the CAF it does say at the top in red letters something like "Include all attempts of the examination" (or something to that effect)

I am in a similar situation like you. I passed Step 1 on my second attempt, but I entered my failed attempt as well. I also didn't apply to any program that requires a first attempt pass. If you apply to a program that requires a first attempt pass, you might get through their filter initially, but eventually they will get your transcript which will show all attempts and your application will probably no longer be considered. You'd just be wasting your money...and their time.

Unless your application is stellar in other areas, I would only apply to programs where you meet their minimum requirements.

I agree with the above. It's extremely unlikely that some program that requires passing the USMLE on the first try will somehow be fooled by this.
