I am a MS1 in my second year, and I am doing pretty well in class. But, one of the things that I really haven't been able to do is do a bunch of questions. I can just study by reading/reviewing and still do well, but I find doing questions really hammers home the content. I am saving UWorld for dedicated step 1 prep, but am wondering if it would be worth my time to do a qbank along with my classes. By the way, my curriculum is 1 1/2 yrs of basic sciences and it is systems-based. I am leaning towards Rx and am wondering if it can be done system by system.

Probably stick to BRS and pre-test for now. Also how can you be an MS1 in your second year. By definition MS1 is your first year unless you repeated the entire year which you can't do.

First, how can you be an "MS1 in your second year"? Second, if your program is 1.5yrs of basic science, how can you be in your "second year"?

Edit: Actually, I guess you can still be in your "second year" even if it's only half a year. But still.. Second year and MS1?

Sorry, that was a typo. I meant to say I am in my first year.

I've done a few Rx blocks and I find it relatively helpful (I'm also an MS1). You can do it by systems or by basic science "discipline".

how many questions would you say are there for each system?

Not sure. I've been doing them by basic science disciplines because we don't start systems until MS2. I'd imagine the number of questions is proportional to the size of the FA chapter.

Edit: Actually here you go. Just copy/pasted this from my account.

  • All Organ Systems2653
  • Neurology280
  • Cardiology225
  • Oncology179
  • Endocrine149
  • Psychiatry90
  • Gastrointestinal273
  • Pulmonary218
  • Hematology266
  • Renal169
  • Multisystem452
  • Reproductive183
  • Musculoskeletal169

thanks. and, have you tried out the FA Q&A book? I heard it is the same thing as Rx, just not as many questions.

Yeah, I got a copy of it for $5. It's not really worth it if you have Rx because like you said, everything in Q&A is in Rx.

Send me an inbox if you're looking for a PDF of any book in basic sciences. I have just about everything from BRS, Grays, Moores, Lippincotts, Kaplan, UWorld, FA, etc etc.

USMLE RX is $99/month? LOL

USMLE RX is $99/month? LOL

Yes. $99/mo, or $199/12mo*, or $99/12mo* when it is on sale (which is frequently).

12mo* is actually 24mo because of their "till you pass" program.
