Has anyone felt their scores on Qbank's score estimator were not reflective of your actual step score?

There are many questions in their test bank that the company hasn't collected performance data on. If that is the case, how can you know for certain that your Qbank scores are better or worse than the average medical student? Does anyone know if the score estimator compensates for experimental questions? My guess is that it doesn't.

I had a very similar question... because on the STEP 1 you must get between a 60 to 70% to pass. However, on the Kaplan score estimator, if I enter a 65%, I get an estimated score of 234 (+/- 16 points)- even then, it doesn't seem right at all!

I think it best estimates if you use all qbank or similar percents of disciplines (ie 20% of pathology, 20% of embryology etc), not 90% of pathology and 1% of gross anatomy, 1% of molecular, etc.

Yea the disclaimer on the estimator says that it's only accurate to +/- 16 pts if the tests are timed and fully randomized with an average cumulative score of 50% to 80% I think.

why dont you take a look at the score threads for 2007 and 2008. several people post their kaplan % and their step 1 score, so you can get an idea about the correlation.

I don't think the score estimator is more than a couple months old. There won't be many people who have used it and also received their USMLE scores.
