Seems like you need a beer break..

In 1 min it fills 1/30 and empties 1/50..when both are open together..

1/b = 1/30 - 1/50 = 5-3/150 = 2/150

Inverting this you get 150/2 = 75 mins.

Here's a shortcut I learned from destroyer:

50X30/(50-30) for this question. *(50-30) errors sorry!

I actually learned it from an opposite problem like Joe takes 3 hours to paint and Ann takes 2 hrs to paint. Together how long would it take them to paint a fence?

Answer: 2X3/(2+3) = 6/5hrs.

I don't have much advice to give you. I mostly studied with the Destroyer, and it go me a 22 on QR. On the DAT, I guessed like 5 problems. I think the best way to save time on the DAT are to:

1) Memorize the formula.
2) Try to do it in your head first. (a lot of times, you don't need to write it down nor to use a calculator)

To be honest, I was 75% ready on my day of the exam. So, I accept my score and prepare to near 100% as much as possible for the retake in 3 months.

I'll probably will pick up a precalculus book to get myself a 100% ready in the math section. But, I feel that Destroyer is plenty to score over 20 in QR.
