So is anybody have the audacity to guess their way into a 16 right out of 40 to score an 18 or 19 on the math section. In terms of overall worry this is my hardest section.

Is this really an accurate scale? Only 16 right out of 40, gives you a 18 or 19? So people are getting like 12 right out of 40 and getting a 15/16? Crazy. I am just as worried for QR as you are, and honestly if this is accurate, this just made my day.

*Edit: That is what you meant to say, right?

I think the question is can you guess on 16 questions out of 40 and if you get them right you will get a 18 or 19..... Or is the question has that ever happened to someone....

Wow, really wrote that to fast. I'm just at the point where I know the upper level math is beyond me. Its been over 10 years since I had stats in school. I'm asking if you could almost guess at the entire QR section and get a 16. I'm using Destroyer Math and if I know how to calculate the basic word problems and simple math I'm at 15 or 17 right as is. Guessing at anything with a COS, evaluate, (x,y) axis, radius, perimeter, area question could get you another 2-4 right, maybe. Because those are the time killers or get stuck on guessing at formula's questions I hate.

Mastering the simple questions like distance traveled, paint fence, ratio's, square roots, sci notation, money etc.... should get you to 15 hopefully. And 16 questions right will equate to a 17 or 18 score. So skipping the big math and knowing simple math could be a gamble worth making if your math skills are really really bad. Maybe? No?

No. There is no penalty for a wrong answer, so you're better off guessing than skipping. Second, I'm not aware of any statistics in the QR section? (Haven't come across any in my studying so far). I think it would be worth your time to relearn the concept you're having trouble with; they'll probably come back to you faster than you think. Although people say that QR is considered one of the less important sections on the DAT, there's no reason you shouldn't aim higher as your AA will take a hit. Just my 2 cents.

From the resources I've used that give score conversion charts (KBB and ADA tests) I have never seen 16 questions right equate to a 19. From the 2007 ADA:

16 to 18 right ---> 15 scaled score

To get a 19 it says you would need 27-28 questions answered correctly. I don't know how accurate this scale is but it is a big difference from what you are proposing.

Reading the scoring chart backwards. Wow really hitting the wall right now. I'm on day 62 of a non stop study marathon full of 12 hour days and I looked at the scoring sheet from the ADA website. Yes its true scoring about 29 right of 40 will get you a score in the 20 range on the DAT. I'm just feeling good about everything but MATH with 3.5 weeks to go. I just never got math and really struggle. But my wallet opens for a math tutor tonight.
