The QR part of the DAT is destroying me. I'm a firm believer in taking hard practice tests to make the real test feel easy but Math Destroyer is just way too much for me. What do you guys reccomend to practice with that is similar to the DAT? Honestly I'm just trying to break a 20 in this section

Learn the different Math Destroyer problems....that is the key...you'll get tons of easy problems but also tougher ones which can mostly be found in Math Destroyer. That's the key to a high score...getting those few TOUGHER problems which can boost your score anywhere from 2-10 points depending on what you get...some of it is luck too but people don't mention that.

QR is the least forgiving section on the test. IIRC, it has the hardest grading of any section. You really must master Math Destroyer, even if you can't do it in the time limits. Like sg310 said, you need to know how to do the tough ones (at least a few) to break 20.

Really? You can get like 25 right and get a 17-18 from the old score sheet.

my impression of the dat was that it involved some memorization/recall (BIO, some OC), very little critical thinking (RC, PAT), and the rest was just formulaic 'problem solving' (GC, OC, QR).

i know that in your prep it was important to know the "why's" behind your chemistry concepts (for example), but when it comes down to executing answers in 60 seconds or less you need to be a machine of efficiency.

what i'm saying is that instead of lamenting on how difficult math destroyer problems are, concentrate on recognizing what type of problem you're facing and implement your strategy to solve it. pay attention to romano's explanations at the back of the book. if you have access to chad's vids, check out his qr stuff. it's been almost a year since i've watched them, but i can remember dude is all about pattern recognition and streamlining your path from problem ---> solution.

keep at it.

Thanks guys, I needed someone to just tell me to shut up and do it. I'm a tough love kinda girl :hello:

2009 DAT required 34/40 to get a 20. That's tough grading. On that test you could miss 10 for an 18.

Do you have a copy of that grade sheet? I wouldn't mind having an updated version.

Hopefully the current one is a bit more easy going. 34/40 just to get a 20 is a bit ridiculous .
