I am retaking the DAT in mid august. I am improving my scores 18AA and 17TS (with a sad 15 bio). I am very confident on getting all the scores up. I am however uncertain when to apply. I am ready to apply come next week, but do I?

Should I apply and then not submit my dat scores?
should I apply and submit the dat scores, and notify of a retake, then send those new scores in when i get them?
Should I just wait to apply in august when i have taken the dat, and know they will recieve my new scores?

I have heard of all these situations, but I am uncertain the details behind how the dental schools look at applications, how/when they see dat scores. can i still apply but not submit dat scores? if i retake adn wait till then to apply how do i know when to submit application so that my new scores are with the application?

Help is most wanted, and I know there are others who will benefit from this as well.

Apply early and designate 1 school that you don't have interest in so your application gets filed and your GPA gets calculated. After you take your DAT and get it updated to AADSAS, add schools you want to attend.

so your saying that i should put a single school in and get the application in. This will allow the system to file my application and calculate the GPA? Then later when I have taken the DAT again, then send the application to those schools. what is the benefit of this? I just want to assure that i am making the right choices here, as applying is a big deal.
Is this the best way? do other people do this? what school would you suggest to send my applicaiton to so that this all works like you have said.

Thanks for your time and help.

GPA calculation can take a long time and this way schools don't review your app with your 1st DAT score and there's no risk of your app falling in the cracks and don't get reviewed again with the retake. Send it to Harvard unless you got like 3.7+ GPA.

Just a smart ass question. Do people not search the forum befaore they ask the same questions over and over? There is a search bar at the top of the page.
