Question about an early/late application?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
You can still apply months ahead of time. PTCAS lets you update your fall-semester grades after you have completed them, and then they resend everything to schools with the new information.

As for your chances, with those grades you have a really good shot at getting in somewhere, so I say go for PT. Apply to at least a few places though if you want to get in, because nothing is a guarantee.
Lastly, I would advise you to apply this year if you can. I think you'll go crazier just sitting around doing nothing for a while if you give yourself a year off. In 2011 I had to do a whole lot to get ready for applying, and it was very stressful, but now it's 2012 and I'm relaxing. 🙂 I'm glad I finished things up.

Yea, I agree with the poster above me. If you have outstanding pre-reqs, you are still able to apply as early as possible. Some places have a requirement on how many you can have in progress (like at Columbia you can have no more than 3 in progress pre-reqs). But most places as long as you complete them before you matriculate, then you are completely fine (so long as it's not like all of them haha).

Your stats are really good, so I wouldn't worry about your chances at all. Be smart about where you apply (I will also say that the earlier you submit your PTCAS app, the better your chances since you will be competing with most likely less applicants for an interview, and with your stats, you should be fine). Focus on putting together a strong application (strong PS, get good quality LORs etc...), because stats aren't everything, a good strong PS can go a long way. So definitely apply to more than one school because like the previous poster stated, nothing is guaranteed during this application process.

Oh, that's good to know. I haven't really touched PTCAS yet. Is it really complicated?

And thank you! I'm applying to CSU-Fresno, CSU-Northridge, CSU-Sacramento, San Diego State University, and Northern Arizona University. I was thinking of delaying the application process since I wanted to take time to get my GRE scores all set up as well as travel a little bit- but you're probably right. Better to get it over and done with.

Keep in mind that most schools required the GRE to be taken no later than December 2011. So unless you already took the GRE, it might be too late to apply for this application cycle.

I'll definitely apply once I finish summer session of this year. Hopefully the CSU's will allow 3 in-prog pre-req's. Oh- And they all start in the fall semester, yeah? Because I still have a few classes left to finish up my degree. They'll accept in-progress B.A.'s, right?

Oh- and what does PS stand for?
Thank you!

OH THANK GOODNESS. You made me panic for a second. I just checked the last acceptance date (Nov 30, 12) for CSU-S and breathed a huge sigh of relief.

Check PTCAS's PT Program Directory, then click on whatever school(s) you are interested in. Scroll down the page about half of the way, and there will be a section that shows the "last acceptable GRE test date". For example, CSU Sacramento's last acceptable test date was November 30, 2011.

That's for the upcoming 2012. Luckily, I'll be applying in 2013. Thank you though! I never really checked the GRE deadlines, I just figured I had the time.

Excellent! 😀 Good luck! If you have any more questions, feel free to ask 🙂
